Finally on Sunday 2-24 made it to a polo match @ the Empire Polo Grounds...only able to stay for one chukker. A fundraiser for the Indio Animal Shelter was being held...had to support the kitties and the puppies. Then off to Sunday Sounds for Ol' Doc Rickenbeck's folk music trio at the Palm Desert Library. Another great concert. Then back to our country club for Happy Hour at Bea & Wolf's (tennis buddies). Whew! A busy day.
On Tuesday 2-26, we were off to another concert in Palm Springs at Sunrise Park to hear the U.S. Navy Sea Chanters Chorus, who are stationed in Washington and perform for the President at State dinners. However, they were on a 28-day National Tour of the southwest, and we felt lucky to be able to see them. Their music ranged from traditonal choral music including sea chanteys & patriotic songs, to opera, Broadway and even a Jersey Boys set. What a performance!
Wednesday, 2-27...we hiked with the Seniors to Anza Borrego (separate blog on that.)
On Thursday, 2-28, we had tickets to the Linda Gentille's Music of the Night concert at Sun City. Linda is considered "The Female Liberace". We saw her on a Princess cruise several years ago...and again in Palm Springs last February.
Our neighbors, Sally & Alan, and Karen went, too.
We were quite surprised when we received an invitation to attend her after party at her mother's house in Indian Wells Country Club.
That's Linda and her mother...who was celebrating her birthday. There were around 500 people at the concert...and only 30 at the after party...we're still not sure why we were invited. But we didn't miss the opportunity to visit with Linda.
Here I am with Karen and Sally at the after party.
And us with Linda.
Yes, we're groupies! Whenever she plays here in the desert...we're there! Her unique style is to orchestrate and arrange popular music in a classical style. She's amazing.
To start off the month of March...Happy Hour at the Clubhouse with Lucille and Carolyn.
We're all working the tennis tournament together.
(I play tennis with Lucille and hike with Carolyn).
And to round out the week...a trip to Catalina Island on Saturday.
(Separate blog on that.)
I'm tired!
The BNP Paribas Open is coming March 4-17, so next blogs will be all about tennis. Ellen, WV high school & college friend, arrives on Sunday 3-3...we'll be working the tennis tournament as Ushers; then Carol (Tahoe) arrives on Saturday 3-9 to just hang out with us at the tournament.
