Richard's Last Day

On Richard's last day, he wanted to take the Palm Springs Tram up to the top of Mt. San Jacinto.  We decided to make a day of it in Palm Springs, since it is a 45 minute drive from Indio to P.S.  Went to the Palm Springs Art Museum first to see the Andrew Wyeth exhibit that is there this month...one of my favorite American artists (bet you all didn't know that!).  The museum was getting set up for the inaugural reception for the P.S. International Film Festival (all of the Hollywood stars were coming in...George Clooney, Brad and Angie and all my BFF's).  We had to get out of there before 3 p.m. or we would have been on the red carpet, too.

As always...Richard and I started the day off @ 6 a.m. with this beatiful sunrise.  While Allan is still slumbering, we waited patiently for the day to begin.

Then we headed to the tram...is hard to visualize the steepness of it all.  Allan stayed in the car, as he is afraid of heights.  The tram holds 80 people and the floor rotates as you ascend to the top of the mountain...always having a great view of the valley floor.
Here's Richard watching it all.  My those granite rocks are big.

Then we got to the top...what a view!  Was 80 degrees down below, but 55 up top...luckily I had all my layers on.

Yes, there was snow up there.  We started to go on a short hike, but decided after doing several switch backs down the mountain...realized we'd have to come back up...so we nixed that idea.

And, this is what the tram looks like.

Afterwards, we headed to downtown Palm Springs for the Thursday evening Village Fest and eat dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant there.  And, Jenny, the band was playing again.  Great food and music, too.

Needless to say, all of us were exhausted by the time we got home.  We went immediately to bed...maybe it was the fresh air...or the two grande margaritas that Allan and I had.

Richard's gone...what a help he was to us...got lots of projects done.  Maybe some day they will all be finished.
