It was a chilly evening...all we needed was some snow to make it truly like Christmas. They had firepits stationed throughout the park where you could roast marshmallows or warm your behind...Richard even had to buy a jacket he was so cold. (Jenny's been there.)
Then I got to play with the animals. There's a new baby giraffe just born...haven't seen her yet...but can't wait. They're my favorite. I just love the Living Desert...not only are there animals, but there's hiking...and Allan likes the model trains. We get an annual membership, so I can go anytime.
After the fun of the holidays...it was back to work. Allan can mark this one off his list now...installed new fascia boards...and painted. I played tennis, of course, while they worked.
Unfortunately, we didn't have a ladder tall enough...Allan can always think of a way to get the job done though.
The balloons are back. Nothing like going out in the morning...and seeing this! There had been a lawsuit by an olive ranch that the balloon companies were coming too close to their operation. Was a big deal last year, and we followed it in the paper. The olive ranch lost.
And I can't resist a sunset.
We had a quiet New Year's Eve, Allan and I took down Christmas (the decorations had been up since Nov. 20th before we went on the cruise). Richard washed, waxed and vacuumed out the Saturn (he told us that morning he dreamed about cleaning our car; we gladly got him the supplies). Looks like a new car I must say. Then we all hopped on the bikes and headed to the pool to try and relax while listening to all of the kids playing there. We watched bowl games galore and after a yummy steak dinner we settled in to watch more football and the ball drop in New York. Of course I had to wake Allan up @ 9 p.m. to wish him a Happy New Year. Yeah...it was another exciting New Year's Eve at the Eckle home.
We've been taking our morning walks...Richard rides the bike instead...his back still isn't up to walking 3 miles. He especially likes to bike over to Starbucks for his morning brew. Allan just goes and goes...his operation made him a new man.
I've been doing yoga...and trying to decide if I'll do the 2-month "Boot Camp" program through the Fitness Center. When I looked at the schedule and saw that it was on our tennis days (Mon & Wed)...my decision was made. Hey, I've even got a group going on Fridays now. Don't know how that happened. They are wanting me to do a sign-up...don't want to get into that...right, Jenny?
Hope you all had a Happy Holiday! Miss everyone, but we love it here, too.
