Caribbean Cruise - 11/3 to 11/18 2012

Another cruise was in the works for the four of us.  This time we decided to hit the Caribbean again...we'd be guaranteed warm weather!  Always start off the cruise with a bucket of beer...let the partying begin!  Karen & Daryl had flown all night from Alaska...they look pretty good, don't they?
The first cruise was a 6-day starting in Miami with stops in Key West, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, and back to Miami.  Our ship this time was the Carnival Valor.

Here we are enjoying a brew, as always, at Hemingway's Sloppy Joes in Key West.
Of course, Allan isn't with us...he stays on the ship.  Missed a good one1

Some interesting art work in downtown Key West...

...and some more interesting artwork...on the ship.  "Get your hands off of that!"

Our wait staff...the first dancin' evening...Allen, Rosemary and Rhoderick.
They were fantastic!

First formal night...we love to dress up.

The boys look quite dashing, too!  Look at those spats...doesn't look like a West Virginia boy.

Next stop...Jamaica...just got off the ship to walk a little that's all!

Happy Hour...before dinner...on Karen & Daryl's balcony.  That was our party place.

Now we're cleaned up for dinner...our favorite time on the ship.

And we love sitting in the jacuzzi...

...here is one of the few times we had it to ourselves.

Back to Miami to start our 8-day cruise...this time we'll be going to Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Maarten & our old stomping grounds of St. Thomas.

Another formal night...we clean up pretty good, don't we?

Arriving in Grand Turk...even Allan got off here to go...

snorkeling...that's the beach and the reef.
Beautiful turquoise waters...Was a rough entry...so Karen stayed on shore.

Didn't see many fish...except this big whale on the shore.
(I'm not talking about Allan, either...wow, look at that bathing suit.)

And, stopped and had a brew, of course, before heading back to the ship.

Next stop San Juan...our familiar territory...here we are @ El Morro.

Was mighty hot there...so had to stop in for a brew...
(does there seem to be a theme here for 'off the ship' activities?)

Off the ship in St. Maarten...

Didn't snorkel here, but was awfully hot here, too...so guess what?
Allan missed out again.

A great little steel drum band was playing as we headed back to the ship.

Last stop...St. Thomas...see the white horizontal buildings up on the hill behind us...that's where our condo was when we lived here.  Oh, how we miss the islands.
Went to our favorite snorkeling spot on Lindberg Bay...Carib Beach.

The best snorkel of the whole trip...saw barracuda, lobsters, turtles, eels...and all the fish one would want to see.  We all thought this was the best snorkel ever!
No one knows about this spot...just the locals.

And Allan was diving through all of the caves...enjoying every moment of it.

Met up with our old buddy, Harold...had lunch at one of our favorite local restaurants, Arian's...for some good Caribbean food...and, of course, some more brews.

Saying good-bye to Harold...see you in another 4 years.

The guys headed back to the ship...but Karen and I had to have another rum punch before leaving St. Thomas.  Will have to dry out once we get home, but it is so hot down here, you know.
(That's our excuse.)

One of our last evenings dining...

And, Rhoderick is "gettin' down" again.
He had the moves.  We love the dancing waiters on Carnival.

Our last night for more bubbly.

So long...we loved the cruise, the dining, the wait staff, but not the weight we gained.
Maybe next time we won't drink so much.  Naaah...wouldn't be fun then.
