Ernie Maxwell 3-16
in Idyllwild
A 5 mile hike with a 300 feet elevation gain.
This was a very leisurely hike in the pines.
We always head to the mountains in the spring...much cooler up there.
Here's our Senior hiking group.
Ladder Hike 4-24
Had friends from Alaska visiting, so took them on one of our favorite hikes...
out to Mecca to the Painted Canyon
Sue coming down the first ladder. Pam climbing up one of the slots.
Here comes Allan...hope he fits. And Chris.
The hikers....a good looking group, huh?
Allan resting on top, and showing off his new ladder out technique.
Another great hike in the desert!
Horse Thief Canyon 4-30
Up off of Hwy 74 on the way to Idyllwild.
The trail is an up-and-down journey...and it seemed like it was more down.
Dreading coming out with the 'up.'
Lots of flowering plants this time of year.
Hiked down to the old corral made from dried manzanitas.
This is where the rustlers from the LA area met the rustlers from Mexico,
and traded horses...then took them back to their respective areas.
An interesting cacti......and others in bloom.
While the group hiked down to Horse Thief Creek...
Allan stayed up on top...no climbing back up for him!
Our last hike of the season with the Seniors.
Ended up being a 5-miler with a 900-feet elevation gain.
A great way to end our season!
